Abstract: Road safety remains an important concern because accidents can cause injuries, loss of life, and financial damage. The Internet of Things (IoT) can contribute to safer transport by connecting sensors, controllers, positioning technologies, and communication networks. These connected components can help monitor selected vehicle conditions, identify possible accident events, share location information, and send alerts to designated contacts. This paper discusses how IoT is reshaping vehicle safety, with particular attention to accident detection and emergency communication. It explains the basic system structure, describes possible applications and benefits, and considers challenges such as false alerts, network interruptions, privacy, cybersecurity, and cost. The paper uses a descriptive review and conceptual approach and proposes ways to evaluate an IoT safety prototype. It does not claim experimental results. The paper discusses how IoT can support road safety and help people receive emergency alerts quickly. However, the system must be tested carefully to ensure that it works reliably. It should support existing vehicle safety features rather than replace them.
